Heart Shaped baskets for Valentine's Day $3.00 each, or 4 for $10

When I was growing up, we would get May Day baskets secretly left on our front porch.  The baskets were made out of tiny milk cartons decorated in crepe paper.  I think this is an upper New York state tradition because most people have never heard of May Day.

This made me want to make some heart shaped baskets for Valentine's Day.  They are super fun to make.  If you have a Spellbinders or Sizzix heart shaped die, or any other large heart die, you can make these in no time at all.  These particular baskets are so big that they hold an entire bag of Hershey's kisses.

If any of you came to my garage sale last Spring, you probably remember seeing the very popular butterfly shaped baskets.  These heart shaped ones are great for parties or just filling with candy and giving to someone special.  What little girl wouldn't love to get one of these for Valentine's Day?  If you are interested in buying one, I will sell them to local people who can come pick them up at my house.  They will not do well in the mail.   I also have Valentine's cards to sell if anyone is interested.  Each card is $3 but if you buy 4 of them, the cost is $10.  All of the cards on my previous posts are for sale.

If you would like to take a class to learn how to make these, I will provide all the paper, dies, die cutting machines,  ribbon and embellishments.  All you have to bring is a pair of scissors, tweezers  and a bottle of quick dry glue such as Glossy Accents which can be purchased at any craft store in the scrapbook dept.  Email me for further details if interested.

Martha Stewart Floral Vine deep edge punch

I saw a card similar to this by Betty Wright on pagemaps.com years ago and have wanted to try it ever since.  I finally had the time now that our addition is done on the house and we've basically done almost all of the cleaning up afterward.  Still have some dust and dirt to clean up but we will for a while, so everyone tells us.

I left the card blank inside so it could be used for more than just one occasion.  I don't like stamping Happy Birthday or any other greeting inside my cards as that seems to limit the number of people who might be able to use it.  If it says Happy Birthday, then only people looking for birthday cards will want it.  On the flip side, if people don't like writing anything of their own inside a card, they will want to see it stamped.

The last of the La Rue Heart cards

I've made so many Valentine cards that I'm thinking I am done with them for the year.  I'm not sure if I will have a garage sale to try to sell more of my punches, cards, stamps,  paper, etc. or not.  If I do,  I'd like to have it before Valentine's Day so people who come to the sale have time to use the Valentine items they buy.

I'd like to hear from my blog followers who live locally and have come to my previous garage sales as to whether they need or want Valentine punches, stamps, etc.   If you do, please email me and let me know.  I will try to post pictures of the items for sale on the blog and you could purchase them by letting me know which items you want or I will have a garage sale.

Hopefully this is the last of the La Rue Heart cards, even though they are fun to make and super easy.

Background paper was from Michaels years ago; I sanded it down to make the X's and O's stand out.

Almost all White Valentine's card

Love is Like a butterfly................

The background paper for these cards was paper that I had leftover from a mini album class I had.  It is a Teresa Collins pack from Hobby Lobby but I'm not sure if Hobby Lobby carries it anymore.

The stamp is from JoAnn Fabric.com made by My Sentiments Exactly.  I cut off the word "love" from the beginning of the stamp so I could use the diecut word Love instead.  The stamp is supposed to read
LOVE is like a butterfly; a rare and gentle thing.

I stamped the stamp on the inside of this card since it wouldn't show  on the black background paper

LOVE cards

Above card made using the Memory Box Grand Heart die, Sizzix Movers & Shapers LOVE die for the inside word, scrollwork embossing folder and EK Success tiny 5 petal flower punch with stickles in the middle.

Memory Box Grand Heart and Tilth Floral dies used in the above card

PaperTrey Ink Love die, Impression Obsession miniature pine branch die, Recollections rose

Same as first card but different embossing folder for the background.  Isn't this card perfect for a teenage girl?

4 posts below; Blogger was down a few days

Sorry about sending so many posts all at once................Blogger had been down the past few days and wouldn't let me upload any photos.  I figured I would get these loaded as soon as I found a temporary fix to the problem before it broke again.

More La Rue Heart cards

This card above is actually all made with silver mirror board, except the background paper.  When I took the picture of it, my blue shirt reflected into the shiny mirror board.

Rosette birthday cards

I'm trying to use up a bunch of rosettes I had made last year to demo during classes.   The word circle was cut out using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Blossom 3 die:

The flower on the above card is a stamp by Hero Arts called Dotted Flower.  I put green and blue alcohol ink on the vellum first then stamped the flower with metallic blue embossing powder and manually cut out the layers of the flowers and adhered them, bending the petals with a pair of tweezers.

The rosette on the above card was made using a word document that says Happy Birthday spaced vertically to fit the score lines on the rosette die by Tim Holtz.  I printed it on vellum then cut the rosette out.  It took a few tries to get the spacing just right but I finally managed.

Another vellum rosette with two layers.  Cupcake embellishment is a brad from Hobby Lobby's Spare Parts collection
