Sunny Monarch

I needed to make a bright card in recognition of the first sunny day we've had in over 30 days where the sun has been out from sunrise to sunset.  Here in Maryland, USA we've had so many continuous days of rain that people started saying we are having Seattle weather.

The black background is the Tufted Cushion Card Panel by Frantic Stamper.  This makes a great background die.  The frames on top of the background panel are cut from the Sue Wilson Californian Collection Decorative Frames (set B).  You get 5 frames in this set which layer on top of each other or could be used individually as labels.

I decided to use a butterfly in the center of the card instead of a flower.  I cut the Frantic Stamper Solid Butterfly on yellow paper then cut the Monarch Butterfly on black paper.  After the two were adhered on top of each other, I used a white gel pen to fill in some of the openings on the butterfly.

All of the products used to make this card are available at Ecstasy Crafts.  Be sure to check out their Memorial Day sale that is going on right now.

  1. Stunning card, so lovely and bright! I hope you have had plenty of sunshine now.

  2. Wow that is a lot of days without full sunshine, bet it is lovely and green there though :) Beautiful card, love how the style of the butterfly goes perfectly with the background!

  3. How gorgeous, sunshiny, imaginative, and amazing, Ann. I love what you do with dies! The background is incredible with this SW set! Hugs, de

  4. Love the idea to celebrate the day's sun with bold & bright sunshiney yellow! I understand completely ... too much gray blah in the skies and I wither on many levels. Bring on the "Hello, Sunny!"

  5. Awesome card Ann. Brings in the sunshine with the wonderful yellow and the great dies.

  6. Beautiful card! Love all your die cuts/ layers! Glad you are having some sun! Sun always makes us happier! I'm just glad that is isn't "mud" season any longer! 3 dogs track a lot of dirt ! Thanks for the visit and for your kind words, very much appreciate. Have a great week!
