Frames and Tags Gillian

Sue Wilson made a card similar to this which can be seen here.  I knew when I saw her card that I wanted to try the technique with a die I had -- the Gillian.

The Gillian comes with an outer die that, if used with the doily die, would totally detach the die cut from your paper.  I wanted the die to stay in the paper so I cut it without the outer frame.

Sue also used pixie powders for her background but since I don't have any pixie powders, I used a piece of colorful scrapbook paper, which I also used for the flower.  The finished size of this card is 8" x 5.75".

Dies used on my card:

Sue Wilson Frames and Tags Gillian, Sue Wilson Stitched Flags, SW Delicate Daisies Complete Petals, SW Orange Blossom Leaves, SW Double Pierced Background Rectangles, Dee's Distinctively Berry Sprigs

Here's Sue's card:

Delicate Daisy Birthday Card

I don't think there is a prettier die for making a card base than this Sue Wilson Ornate Pierced Rectangles die.  Since the biggest die in the set is more than 6" long,  I had to cut two and hinge them together for the card base.  The ivory background is what the card base is made out of.

On top of the card base, I adhered the white delicate frame then added the Tutti Designs words Happy and Birthday.  The flower is the Sue Wilson Delicate Daisies Complete Petals.  Here is how I made my flower to give it more dimension:

Cut three of each sized petal in the set.  Chose two petal sizes that layer well together.  Crimp the ends of each petal with tweezers, pinching the paper up against the tweezers.  Do this for all the petals.

Adhere the three biggest petals together with glue, staggering them so they don't line up on top of other petals.  Then adhere the 3 smaller sized petals, also staggering them for more fullness.

Use a piece of foam or other dimensional adhesive between the two layers.

Here's the list of products used:

Sue Wilson Ornate Pierced Rectangles, Sue Wilson Delicate Daisies Complete Petals, Tutti Designs Happy and Birthday words

Black Flourish Background

In an attempt to clean off my desk and be able to move on from making Easter cards, I was able to make some cards with leftover die cuts that didn't make it on their intended card.  This is one of those cards.

I like the pink, blue and black together.  The black background is the Joy Crafts Background with Holes, the leaf is the Sue Wilson Faux Quilled Leaves, and the flower is the Sue Wilson Perfect Peony Complete Petals.

Red Floral Hugs

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

and

I used the following dies:

Die-Namics Stitched Tags, Sue Wilson Butterfly Frame (just the butterfly), Lawn Fawn Scripty Hugs, Sue Wilson Daisy Burst EF, Sue Wilson Delicate Daisies Complete Petals.

To make the flower, I cut three of the second largest flower in the Sue Wilson Delicate Daisies and pinched the ends of each petal with tweezers.

The stick pin is one I bought at JoAnn Fabric years ago.  It is just a pearl heart on the pin top.  I added the red beads and a butterfly from the  Sue Wilson Butterfly Frame set.  The rose on the stick pin is a Recollections.

Last Minute Easter Card

Lacy Eggs

The background paper I used on this card is a free download on Pinterest.

The eggs were made by adhering the Martha Stewart Doily Lace Trim punch on a piece of white paper then cutting out the egg shapes with the Frantic Stamper Nested Eggs.  I inked around the eggs with some black ink to make them stand out.

Pink Hello Owl

I'm entering this card in the CropStop April Challenge Link Party #27.   Maybe having my birthday on April 27 and this challenge being the 27th one that falls in April will bring me some luck.

I used the Sizzix Owl Fold-a-Long Card but didn't use the middle piece of the die cut:

I folded my cardstock and still cut the die according to the directions, but then separated the two full owls from the middle one and used just those two:

Instead of having the owls fold in half, I just detached the first and last owls and made them into a hinged card.  Then I cut the smaller owl in white and embossed it with a Spellbinders embossing folder.

I wanted the owl to be a girl owl with some glitz since those eyelashes look so feminine.

Frilly Butterfly

This is the only corner die that I currently own; I thought it would pair well with the Monarch Butterfly since they are both so frilly looking.

The background is a lattice embossing folder by Cuttlebug.  The corner die is by Yvonne Creations and the Monarch is by Frantic Stamper.

A Neighborly Easter Card

An Easter card for the other neighbors with four children........the inside is below:

I tried opening a jar yesterday and sprained my shoulder and wrist pretty badly.  So I'm taking it easy with the typing for a few days.  I've had four carpal tunnel surgeries already and am trying to avoid having a fifth one done.   If you have questions about the products I used to make this card, please leave a comment or email me.  Thank you ~ Ann

An Easter Card for the Neighbors

I have the Easter cards made for my family and am now working on cards for the neighbors.  I have two neighbors with young kids; both have four children each.  So I thought this card would be appropriate for one family.  On the inside I put four chicks, representing the four kids in the family:

Products used:  Frantic Stamper (FS) Easter Icons, FS Script Happy Easter, FS Assorted Bunnies, FS Petite Eggs, Dies R Us Chicks, Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillside Borders, Sue Wilson Ray of Light, Cheery Lynn Small Exotic Butterflies #1 with Angel Wings, Sue Wilson Double Pierced Background Rectangles

The Most Beautiful Things

I've had this designer paper (used on the flowers and edger) for a long time and finally had the perfect card in mind for it.  I really like making floral cards but try to keep them on the flatter side for mailing.  This Nellie Snellen die  makes a nice flower without all the bulk.

Here's another shot of the card showing the shine on the flowers:

Products Used:  Memory Box Distressed Windham Collage, Sue Wilson Aquila, Nellie Snellen Flowers 2, Sue Wilson Faux Quilled Leaves, Cheery Lynn Small Exotic Butterflies #1 with Angel Wings, Penny Black Forever & Always clear stamp set

Cheery Lynn Chicken Wire with Dragonflies

I realized after making my last few cards that I have been using pink a lot.  I think it has to do with the fact that our pink Easter flowers are all in bloom, along with the Red Bud trees and their glorious pink blooms; or it could be I just like pink.

Today's card uses the Cheery Lynn Chicken Wire die again (surprise, surprise!).  I've used this die on my last 6 cards.  I think it looks best when cut out on silver foil cardstock as I did for today's card.

I used the following dies on my card:  Sue Wilson Ornate Pierced Rectangles, Cheery Lynn Chicken Wire Die, Frantic Stamper Dragonflies, Sue Wilson Stitched Flags.

Rainbow Easter Joy

This is most likely going to be the Easter card I send my parents.

To make the card, I cut two of the second largest die in the Sue Wilson Ornate Pierced Rectangles set on white cardstock.  An easy way to assemble the two pieces to make an actual card is to hinge them together.  I cut a piece of white cardstock measuring 1 1/2" x 3 1/4" and scored it in half horizontally:

Put double sided tape on the hinge above and below the score line but don't cover the score line.  Place the hinge up against the very top of one of the octagon shapes, then line up the bottoms of both octagons, making sure the edges all line up perfectly, then press down on the adhesive on the hinge.

You now have an octagon shaped card base.

To decorate the front of the card, I cut out the decorative frame of the Sue Wilson die set in white but didn't adhere it until the center area was done.  I cut out the smallest octagon shaped die on the rainbow paper.  I adhered the Praying Hands and cut off any that hung off the bottom edge and then adhered the decorative frame on the card.  Finally I adhered the Easter Joy words.

I used the following dies on my card:  Sue Wilson Ornate Pierced Rectangles, Dee's Distinctively Praying Hands, Impression Obsession Easter Joy, Rainbow paper found on Pinterest.

Pink and Silver Chicken Wire Card

This is probably my favorite card using the Cheery Lynn Chicken Wire die.  I really like this die and the possibilities it presents.  Here is what the die looks like:

To make my card, I started off by just embossing the Chicken Wire die onto a piece of silver foil card stock.  I ran it through my Grand Calibur with the tan mat on it and the pink embossing plate.  I then cut the die on to a piece of pink card stock and layered the two slightly offset from each other:

Since some of the pink frame around the die cut was showing when I placed the pink cross stitched frame on top of it, I decided to cover that goof with a pink lacy Impression Obsession Border die.

These are the dies I used on my card:

Cheery Lynn Chicken Wire Die, Impression Obsession Border Duo 2, Lawn Fawn Cross-Stitched Small and Large Rectangle Stackables, Die-Namics Stitched Oval STAX, Sue Wilson Faux Quilled Blooms (flower and leaves), Tutti Designs Hugs Word Set.
