Apothecary Bottles

I originally bought this Sizzix BIGZ die of apothecary bottles to make a card for my nephew who is studying pharmacy in college, but the bottles are great for Halloween cards too.

For the background I used a piece of We R Memory Keepers paper called Pen Pals and stamped it with a french script stamp from Rubbernecker Stamps.  Then I ran it through my Cuttlebug and embossed it with a Sizzix cobweb embossing folder.  To make the cobwebs stand out a little more, I rubbed on some black gilding wax with my finger.

To make the bottles, I cut up some of the plastic acetate packaging that Creative Expressions dies come in and colored the acetate with various colors of alcohol ink:  Purple Twilight, Hazelnut and Butterscotch.  I printed off some poison labels that I downloaded years ago online but the apothecary bottles die set comes with a label you could also use.  I cut a thin sheet of cork for the cork tops to the bottles and stamped the words "happy halloween" from the Lawn Fawn Spooktacular stamp set.

Since the apothecary bottles die is a BIGZ die, I was able to cut three of each bottle at once.  I just layered the colored acetate, three sheets thick, and ran them through the Cuttlebug.  One swipe cut all 3 layers of each bottle with no problem.  I did the same with the cork tops.

I'm entering this in the Monday Simon Says Stamp Challenge:  A Walk on the Dark Side and the SSS Wed Challenge:  Anything Goes
