Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Christmas -- Penny Black

I am super excited and honored to be the Guest Designer for the month of October for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  My first card can be seen below.

There will be four weekly challenges for the month of October, each with a chance to win a $50 gift voucher to spend in the Simon Says Stamp Store.

This week's challenge is

Christmas -- Penny Black

Here's  my card:

I am calling this card "Christmas Rose" since  I used a rose stamp from the Penny Black Petal Power clear stamp set and the Penny Black Merry Christmas words.

To make the rose, I stamped the outline rose stamp with Versamark ink and heat embossed some gold embossing powder on it.  Then I painted the rose in with Barn Door and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks.  I manually cut out the rose, leaving a thin white edge around it.  The branches are cut using the Impression Obsession Pine Pair and painted with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.

The heart is the largest heart in the Spellbinders Classic Heart set.  I swiped it through a mix of watered down Picked Raspberry and Barn Door ink then stamped a French script stamp on it, similar to the Penny Black Cling Stamp Script.  To give it just a little more dimension, I ran the heart through the Tim Holtz Sizzix Snow Flurries embossing folder in my machine.

The gold corners of the card were made by cutting one of the dies in the Memory Box Distressed Windham Collage.  For that pretty gold color, I covered a piece of paper with some Cosmic Shimmer Flake and Glitter Glue and pressed  on some gold gilding flakes with my fingers.  I also cut the words Merry Christmas out of paper covered with gold gilding flakes.

The black background panel is embossed with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Tiny Dots Texture Fades embossing folder.  The final step was to adhere the larger bow from the Memory Box Precious Hearts.

I used these products from the Simon Says Stamp Store:

Impression Obsession Pine Pair DIE215
