Ann Topp's Cards

This is not my card; I saw it on Facebook.  It's by Ann Topp and was on a group site called All Things Sue Wilson.

I wanted to put it on my Pinterest board and this is the only way I knew how to do that since I couldn't find a blog or anything else of Ann Topp's.

Here are two other beauties by Ann Topp:

So now I can share it on Pinterest and you can too.

Gold and White Deer

I am guest designing again for Crop Stop.  Crop Stop has a monthly blog challenge where you can win a prize from their Crop Stop Store.

My card was made using two Sizzix trees left over from a previous card.  They were cut using some gold foiled dsp.

To make the background, I first embossed a piece of white card stock with the Crafts-Too Lattice embossing folder.  Then, using my finger, I rubbed on some Vintage Green gilding wax by Creative Expressions.

The layers of the card are held together with 1/4" Scor Tape and Tombow Mono Adhesive runner.  For areas on the front of the card where I didn't want the glue to show, such as for the sprigs on the deer necks, I used Creative Expressions Specialist Acrylic Glue.  It is the only glue I trust to not show on my cards.  It even dries clear on foiled cardstock.

Products used to make the card:

Crafts-Too Lattice embossing folder
Sizzix Winter Card Front die set
Frantic Stamper Northern Star
Impression Obsession Deer Trio
Impression Obsession Fir Sprig Set
Elizabeth Crafts Designs Shimmer Sheetz (bottom layer)
Tombow Mono Adhesive tape dispenser
Scor Tape
Creative Expressions Vintage Holly Gilding Wax
Creative Expressions Specialist Acrylic Glue (dries clear)

Check out the current blog challenge and join along to win a prize.

Special Friends

The current challenge at Impression Obsession is "I Adore You".

Since I don't have any Impression Obsession heart dies or stamps yet, I went through all my IO stamps and dies and came up with the combination of boy and his dog.  I used the IO Bored Silhouette cling stamp and the IO Puppy Set.

I got my very first dog when I was 25 yrs old.  I had always been afraid of dogs so I decided to become a puppy raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.  I knew I'd be given a 6 wk. old puppy, and what better way to get over my fear of dogs than with a tiny puppy.

Even though my puppy was tiny, his teeth were very sharp.  It took a while to let him chew on my hand before I was no longer afraid of being bitten.   He was an Old English Black Lab who did not make the program (hip dysplasia) and was released to me for the rest of his life.  I couldn't have been happier; I had become so attached to him.  Having a dog opened a whole new world to me, not only the bond between us, but getting to know new people through my dog.

Needless to say, dogs became a huge part of my life.  I have since rescued a Golden Retriever mix as a companion for my first dog, met my husband through our love of dogs, and have rescued two abused dogs (mother and a pup) who are now 12 and 13 years old.

I used the following Impression Obsession products:

Bored Silhouette D13552 cling stamp
Special Friends D6970 cling stamp
Sunburst Cover-a-Card background stamp
Puppy Set die142

Rustic Lots of Love Hearts

This is a card for my 22 year old nephew in college.

I like to send him mail every now and then with a little money inside as I know how hard it is being at college with no income.

I used the following products:

Marianne Design Creatables Lots of Love Hearts LR0450
Sizzix Celebration Words

Autumn Leaves Thinking of You

These leaves were leftover from another card I had made where I heat embossed some copper powder on the Impression Obsession Tree Line stamp.  I cut the leaves out with the Impression Obsession Leaf set and inked them with some distress inks.

The greeting is from an old Stampabilities set called Card Phrases.

Frantic Stamper Thanks Card Band

My nephew needed some thank you cards so I made this one with the Frantic Stamper Thanks card band.  I absolutely love this die; it's so versatile.  I've used it several times on my blog but I like it most when used with designer paper.  This paper is from Michaels as part of one of their Recollections stacks from 2016.   Since I used pattern paper, I'm entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wed challenge:  Use Pattern Paper.

To make the card, I simply placed the die in the center of my card base, opened the card and ran it through my die cut machine.  I then cut the designer paper to fit the top and bottom panels and backed them with some white cardstock to stand out more.  You can position this die anywhere on your card, even diagonally as I have on past blog posts.

Puppy Love

I used to love making Valentine cards for my nieces and nephews when they were young, but they have all grown up except for one;  I'm finding that I'm not making many of this type of card anymore even though I'm sure they would still love getting them from me.  Upon second thought, maybe I will make one for each of them (14 total) and surprise them with a little love.

Today's card is for my niece who is studying at Unity College in Maine.  She loves dogs and is part of the Guiding Eyes for the Blind puppy raising program at the college.  She has a black lab living with her in her dorm room.

I used the following products on the card:

Darice embossing folder
Impression Obsession Puppy set
Sizzix Celebration Word dies
Various heart punches

Something Shiny Challenge

The current challenge at Impression Obsession is Something Shiny.

For my card, I used a Darice embossing folder with some purple foil cardstock (embossing folders are allowed) for the background.  Then I cut some of the poinsettias from the Small Poinsettia set, the largest with silver foil cardstock and the smaller layers with white cardstock.  I added some Pine Sprigs and Small Snowflakes.  There are some of the small snowflakes cut in the purple foil cardstock too to fill in some blank areas on the background.

Dies used:

Impression Obsession Small Poinsettia set

MFT Quilt Square Cover-Up with a Twist

I really wanted a large snowflake in the center of this Snowflake Trim embossing folder but didn't have a large enough die so I used something similar -- the MFT Stamps Quilt Square Cover-Up die.  This is what the die normally looks like when cut out:

I cut off all the corners and the frame around the die then twisted it so the star in the middle was at a different angle.  This way it looked more like a snowflake to me.

Products used on the first card:

MFT Stamps Quilt Square Cover-Up
Darice Snowflake Trim embossing folder
Sizzix Thinlits Thanks with Flowers by Jen Long
Poppy Stamps Simple Snowflakes
Recollections heart punch

Warm Holiday Wishes

Two parts of this card are from recycled cards; the bottom panel with the words on it was cut off another card my sister gave me, and the holly and pine branch background paper is paper I scanned from the back of another card.

The snowflakes are new to me and are the Abby and Alexis from Simon Says Stamp.  The tiniest snowflakes are the Poppy Stamp Simple Snowflakes.

Striped Pinecone Ornaments

The background paper for this card was made using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Birch embossing folder.  After embossing the white paper, I went over the embossing with a Vintage Photo distress marker.  I tried swiping an ink pad over the paper but it left a lot of streaks that I didn't want.  Maybe I'm too heavy handed.

I tore the top edge of the paper to try to make it look more like birch from a tree.  The ornaments were cut first with the red and green foiled cardstock then backed with the gold.  I hand traced the gold background ornament and manually cut it out to fit the top layer.

Products Used:

Frantic Stamper Striped Pinecone Ornament
Sizzix Tim Holtz Birch embossing folder
Sizzix Tim Holtz Holiday Greens
