One Layer Floral Card

Monday's challenge at Simon Says Stamp is In My Garden.  I had just finished this card for the SSS Wed. Challenge which is Make Your Own Background.  Although I don't have any flowers in my garden yet this year, we do have daffodils and lilies popping up -- they just haven't bloomed yet.

For today's card, I first inked the front of the card base with Bundled Sage distress ink.  Now that I re-inked the distress ink pads, they blend really nicely.  Next I embossed the card front with the Sizzix leaves embossing folder which came in a bundle called Fall Set by Rachael Bright.

I wanted some sparkle to highlight the beauty of the leaves so I painted on some diamond Stickles.  The flowers come in a set by Impression Obsession called Spring Wreath.

Products used:  Impression Obsession Spring Wreath, Sizzix Fall Set ef by Rachael Bright, Sue Wilson Stitched Flags, stamp unknown, Bundled Sage distress ink, diamond Stickles.

Steampunk

I have 5 nieces and 9 nephews and am always trying to find unique birthday cards to make for the nephews.  They are all teenagers or older (except for Ronan) and the hardest group to make cards for in my opinion.

I started off by blending some Tumbled Glass and Bundled Sage distress inks over the front of an A2 card then embossed the front with the Darice Steampunk embossing folder.

Then I cut out some of the gears in the Tim Holtz Gearhead set using silver foiled cardstock.

I'll be entering this card in these Simon Says Stamp challenges:

Leaves

Wednesday's challenge at Simon Says Stamp is Make Your Own Background.

I used a leaf stamp that comes in the Brush Strokes set by Hero Arts and stamped it multiple times over the card front which I colored with Tumbled Glass distress ink.  I had to reink my ink pad but once I did that, the blending worked smoothly.

I'm also entering this in the SSS Monday Challenge:  Grunge It Up.  It's not very grungy but it's about as grungy as my CAS cards get.

CAS Grunge?

Monday's challenge at Simon Says Stamp is Grunge it Up.  I have  a hard time making grunge cards but used some grunge stamps to make the backgrounds for this card.  It's still fairly simple compared to other grunge cards I've seen.  I left the sentiment off until I know whether this will be a birthday card or other use.

Products used:  Hero Arts Brush Strokes, IndigoBlu Ink Splats, Tim Holtz Crazy Dogs stamps and dies, Distress Inks

Tutti Designs Swirly Thanks

One thing I am guilt of is not sending enough thank you cards.  So, along with trying to make more Christmas cards for this 2018 year, I will also be making more holiday thank you cards.

Today's card was made using the Swirly Thanks die by Tutti Designs.  This die cuts out all in one piece; I used some gold glitter cardstock.  I added the tiny red foil cardstock flowers, covering up the flowers that are built into the swirly design of the die.  The flowers were cut with a Fiskars mini 5 petal flower punch and the leaves are from Impression Obsession Holly Leaf Cluster.

Products Used:

Sunshine Wishes Valentine

The current Wednesday challenge at Simon Says Stamp is

For my card I used an entwined heart die from Stampin' Up called Sunshine Wishes.  The corners of the card were cut using the Memory Box Distressed Windham Collage and the center of the heart is an old ribbon flower I've had for years.  The background paper is from Michaels.

Hopefully this card will be one of 200 that will go to the children's ward at WVU Hospital next year.

He Ain't Heavy......He's My Brother

Growing up in upstate New York in the Adirondack Mountains, my 4 sisters and I did a lot of sledding.   Today's card brings back such fond memories for me.

One time my father, four sisters, and I went down a pretty steep hill on a single toboggan, only to find out there was a stream at the bottom that had not totally frozen over.  The toboggan went almost to the other side of the stream before the weight of my father on the end of the toboggan broke through the ice.  Needless to say we all got soaked and had to call it a day.  Talk about a memory I will never forget......thanks, Dad!

I used the following products:

Sizzix Boy and Sled BIGZ die
Stampin' Up Pretty Pines
Martha Stewart Aspen Snowflake edge punch
Impression Obsession Birch Trees (cardinal)
Distress Inks to color the pinecones

I'm entering this in the ABC Christmas Challenge:  "D" is for distress
(I used distress inks and I distressed the edge of the snowbank)

Rustic Valentine

I haven't put a sentiment on this yet because I'm not sure who the recipient will be.

Products Used:

Wood plank paper from Michaels
Impression Obsession Rectangle 6 in 1 frames
Cheery Lynn Christmas Bells 7 (bow and greens)
Sizzix Festive Greens (berries)
Frantic Stamper Rose Heart

I cut the Rose Heart 3 times.  The die cuts an outline around the heart with the rose in it so you have two die cuts from each pass in the machine.

Lots of Love Hearts x 3

I had some leftover Valentine pieces on my desk that I wanted to use up so I could switch gears and get back into making Christmas cards.  It's hard for me to get MOJO for one kind of card when my desk is covered with other things.

Today's cards use the Lots of Love Hearts by Marianne Designs.  I used some wedding paper that came in a 12x12 pack for the backgrounds and kept them simple so they could be given to a boy or girl.  If I accumulate enough Valentine cards this year, I will send them off to the WVU Children's Hospital next year.  I don't make many Valentine cards so it will take a while to get enough made.

Products Used:

Marianne Designs Creatables Lots of Love Hearts
SU Sunshine Wishes
Me & My Big Ideas Mambi Wedding Paper pack

SU Lots of Lavender

The Lots of Lavender was a free set from Stampin' Up in their recent promotion.  I used the largest stamp in the set and also the background stamp but wanted all the petals colored in and the background stamp didn't quite do that (OCD in me).  The end result looks a little sloppy like I colored outside the lines but it's just the background stamp.

Products Used:

SU Lots of Lavender
MFT Die-Namics Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge Frame
MFT Die-Namics Stitched Oval STAX
Distress Markers and Inks

Friendship Flowers

To make my card, I started off with a piece of watercolor paper and some distress inks.  I swiped the paper through some watered down inks on my craft mat.  To make the flowers stand out more, I cut one set in black and then layered on a top set cut out of white.

The "For You" is part of a clear stamp set called Thankful.  I stamped the words onto a piece of the watercolor cardstock then manually cut around it.
