Trials and Errors

This is an 8.5" x 11" chipboard that I covered with a variety of paints, waxes, and inks.  I am extremely new to Mixed Media art, this only being my fifth project or so.  I'm still not used to what paints react with what inks, etc.

I painted the chipboard with white gesso and then did some stenciling with texture paste and added the gears and pieces from a cut up Foundry embossing page.  Then I sprayed on a variety of ink sprays only to find some were very dark and would not lighten even when diluted with water.  The pink area came out a bit darker than I like.

This collage reminds me of unicorns and fairies --- the colors, anyways.  It's the first attempt at making a Mixed Media collage that was intended for a female.  All my past projects were ones that I made for my nephews.

Guess I'll try to punch some holes in it and add it to a journal I want to start working in.

Thanks for stopping by ~ Ann

  1. Wow Ann I really love this. Great colors and textures.

  2. Ann! HOW INCREDIBLE! I love your amazing color choices, and the many different collage elements which tell your story. Gorgeously done, and the textures look lovely together. I like that many of them "shine" but in different ways. Thanks for sharing your creative process. Wishing you a fantastic week! hugs, de
