Altered Compact Mirrors

A few more altered compact mirrors (cosmetic mirrors) for my upcoming Christmas in July sale to raise money for our local humane society.

I filled each mirror with clear glue and fake snow on the bottom base, then once dry, glued on the miniature figurines that I found at various thrift stores this past holiday season.

Putz House Altered Bucket and Mirror

I really like Putz houses, and since they are so popular right now, I thought I'd try making my own.  There are some really elaborate ones out there but I kept mine small and simple.

The top one is on a 4" bucket from Hobby Lobby and the bottom one is on a compact mirror from Michaels.  The trees are from Joann Fabric and the miniature wreaths from Michaels.

Altered Baking Dishes

Just a few more items for the upcoming Christmas in July (or earlier) sale.....the first two were made with ceramic loaf pans that I never actually used but bought at Michaels years ago.

The middle one has a white Putz house that I made out of a cardboard cereal box.  I have other Putz houses coming up on the next post.

Vintage Santa Buckets

You can click on the photos to enlarge.  I bought the vintage Santa and elf on Etsy, the deer on Amazon and the tree at Hobby Lobby.

To decorate the top of the bucket, I glued on some pine branches then a layer of silver garland above that.  I filled the top base of the bucket with styrofoam then covered the foam with glue and glitter for a snowy effect, but then I tried to fill the top as much as I could for a really filled-in effect so you can't really see the snow.

I'll be making a lot more of these for my sale to raise money for our humane society.  The sale will be in the late spring and again possibly for a Christmas in July sale.  I hope to see a lot of local friends there.

Sale dates will be posted on my blog and Facebook page.

Hallmark Ornament Decor

1993 Bearingers of Victoria  Circle -- Mama

1989 Christmas Kitty #1

1991 Glee Club Bears -- Tender Touches Collection

1991 Plum Delightful -- Tender Touches Collection
(lacy floral ribbon around the edge of pail)

1991 Plum Delightful -- Tender Touches Collection
(flat lacy ribbon around the top edge)

Since I found the first Glee Club Bears retired Hallmark ornament at GoodWill a few weeks ago for less than a dollar, I fell in love with those adorable bears and bought duplicates at Hooked On Ornaments.com, along with some other really cute animal ornaments such as the racoon, cat and momma bear baking cookies.

These will all be for sale at my next garage sale to raise money for our local humane society.  Details on the garage sale will be posted on my Facebook page and on my blog once a date is set.  I will also have a lot of my paper cutting dies for sale, as well as stamps.

I also made more of the cosmetic compact mirror decor:

Tulip puffy paint and glitter for the base

Kissing Santa and Mrs. Claus from Etsy

Glue and fake snow for the base above

Above left has puffy paint and glitter base whereas the one on above right has just clear glue and glitter for more of a frozen lake effect.

I left this one alone for the base so it would get the mirror effect.

I'd really like to get your opinion as to which base of the compact mirrors looks best and will sell best if you could leave a comment for me.  Thank you!

Altered Compact Mirror

Michaels has these compact mirrors in their $1.50 bin; they have jeweled covers on them but you can't see that in these photos.

I filled the base mirror with puffy paint, sprinkled on some white glitter and let it dry.  Then I glued on the mini snowman ornament from Hobby Lobby and the bottlebrush trees from Amazon.

I'm hoping to make a lot more of these to sell at the upcoming Christmas in July sales to raise money for the Baltimore Humane Society.

My Second Cork Christmas Tree

Another cork tree for the upcoming sale.  I used a 13" paper mache cone under this one; very easy to make.

More Christmas Buckets

These are more of the buckets I'm selling  to raise money for the Baltimore Humane Society.  Will hopefully have a Christmas in July garage sale and also a booth at a few local craft fairs.  You can click on any image to enlarge them.
